Edmonton Eskimos Football Club

Print and distribute 750,000 due date receipts and 50,000 bookmarks into the hands of families and students

Background

As a community-owned team, the Edmonton Eskimo Football Club strives to make a positive and meaningful impact in its local community and is committed to the development of amateur football across Northern Alberta.

Through the TELUS Champions in the Community program, Eskimo players work with amateur football teams and players to help develop the stars of tomorrow. Eskimo Players, staff, cheer team members, and mascots also visit school and community groups to educate youth on the importance of nutrition and an active lifestyle, share powerful messages on anti-bullying, and encourage kids to stay in school.

Objective

Wild Cards was tasked with creating awareness amongst families and students for the Student Night, Kids Club, and Family Fun Labour Day Rematch programs. We were also asked to drive activation and voucher redemption for the Labour Day Rematch game.

Task

Through the use of public and post-secondary libraries and on-campus bookstores, Wild Cards distributed 750,000 due date receipts and 50,000 bookmarks into the hands of families and students. WC worked closely with campuses to align the campaign with the return of the fall semester in order to maximize exposure amongst students.

Results

Wild Card’s bookmark and due date receipt strategy was more than any other form of advertising, including direct mail, and e-blast. In fact, more than 50% of the tickets redeemed were came from library bookmarks and due date receipts.

Client Testimonial

Len Rhodes, CEO / President - Edmonton Eskimos Football Club

“The media placement WC Media offered in public libraries and student libraries resulted in the greatest redemption rate for our program. It exceeded direct mail, e-blasts and other forms of advertising. In fact, more than 50% of the tickets redeemed were driven through the library bookmarks and due date receipts that we embarked upon with you."

"We are proud to have worked with your organization for two consecutive years and plan on proceeding with an additional campaign in 2018 based on the strong results.”
